There is something satisfying in reducing our solar system to a pop art “symbol.” I have expanded on the idea with the numbers, the electric charges and the geometry in the center. The yellow field around the central circle is a mandala. Yet the image is still pretty close to the primary school picture we were all shown as children. The idea for this painting is playful, yet also asks us to take a second look at the apparent “reality” of this simplification of the solar system. There are numerous ideas like this that we were taught as children.
